Shawnee, a lab border collie mix, came from LabRescue. She was brought into an animal hospital abused at 4 months and someone from the hospital adopted her. That person became sick and Shawnee just sat in a yard without training, socialization or much of anything until they finally realized they had to give her up. She was alpha and aggressive and needed a lot of work. The class I took her to told me they never believed she would graduate. But she did. She was a very smart girl and quickly realized what changes she needed to make. She went on to be a loving companion. She hiked with me and went everywhere. She was always ready to walk. She was a sweet girl whom I miss.
